Chennai, April 8 (IANS) The flying squad of the Election Fee (EC) seized Rs 7.5 lakh from the residence of a relative of DMK’s Vellore Lok Sabha candidate, Kathir Anand, late on Sunday evening.
The flying squad seized the cash from the residence of Natarajan, a relative of DMK state Common Secretary and Tamil Nadu Water Assets Minister, S Duraimurugan.
Based on sources within the EC flying squad, the cash was discovered from the terrace of Natarajan’s home.
It could be recalled that within the 2019 Lok Sabha elections Rs 12 crore had been seized from the residence of a relative of Kathir Anand and the election was cancelled by the President of India.
The election was later held in August 2019 and Kathir Anand received the seat by 8,000 votes.
S Duraimurugan was intently related to late DMK chief Kalaignar Karunanidhi and is now near his son and current Chief Minister, MK Stalin.
