Moscow, April 5 (IANS) Governor of Russia’s Murmansk area Andrei Chibis, who was stabbed within the abdomen after a gathering within the city of Apatity on Thursday, is in a “critical situation”.
Chibis, 45, is in a critical situation and is being operated on within the intensive care unit, Yuri Shiryaev, chief physician of the Apatity-Kirov Hospital, was quoted by Xinhua information company as saying on Friday.
The attacker, recognized as Alexander Bydanov, was detained by safety guards on the spot.
In keeping with the governor’s spokesperson, the assault occurred all of a sudden and the perpetrator didn’t make any calls for or shout any slogans. He was shortly apprehended by a Russian Nationwide Guard (Rosgvardiya) officer.
Investigation is underway to find out the causes and motives.
